A capital city high in the Andes, Quito is dramatically squeezed between mountain peaks concealed by the afternoon mist. The city's crown jewel is its 'Old Town,' a Unesco World Heritage Site packed with colonial monuments and architectural treasures.

I'd also like to see Oswaldo Guayasamín’s Capilla del Hombre, one of the most important works of art in South America. It stands next to the Casa Museo Guayasamín. This giant monument is a tribute to humankind, to the suffering of Latin America’s indigenous poor and to the undying hope for something better.

After that, I'd like to take the TelefériQo, one of the world's highest aerial lifts, that takes passengers on a ride up Volcán Pichincha for amazing views of Quito from the summit.
